Our Mission

Capital Edge Theater is a Veteran-founded, 501(c)(3) theater initiative based in Fort Washington, MD, dedicated to cultivating community creativity and individual empowerment through the performing arts.

Where Creativity Reigns Supreme

Yes, Adults SHOULD Play.

Capital Edge Theater is a process focused, explorative initiative that strives to establish an environment of welcoming PLAY.  That's the beauty of theater- there really is some facet of stagecraft for all types of personalities and strengths, ranging from outward performance to craftsmanship to backstage operations.

Come spend a day, a season, or a lifetime learning with us at Capital Edge. â€‹â€‹

Announcing!!!
"MIDNIGHT RADIO"

Capital Edge Theater is seeking performers for "Midnight Radio", an original, imaginative journey through one DJ’s late-night shift, where the line between reality and imagination begins to disappear.  We’re looking for the singers, actors, dancers, storytellers, and creative characters to help us bring this broadcast to life. Think "Night at the Museum" meets late-night community radio broadcast.

What would YOU put on the air?

This is your chance to audition with that song you’ve always wanted to perform, the monologue or scene work you’ve been waiting to share, or the personality you’ve been hoping to introduce to an audience.

When the DJ drops the needle on each number, what steps out of the static and into the spotlight?

Because on Midnight Radio, anything might happen. Stay tuned…

This is part of our "Stories from the Edge" series, where we aim to provide accessible theater experiences for busy professionals and family caregivers who can't necessarily commit to a 3-month rehearsal schedule but are looking for ways to include theater and artistic camaraderie in their lives. Behind the scenes volunteers also welcomed!

Election time!

We're filling a few open Board of Directors positions at our Annual Meeting and are looking for creative, reliable, community-minded individuals who want to help shape our theater's future. Expectations for board members include attending the monthly zoom meeting (we schedule around everyone's availability), attend/participate in as many shows and events as possible, contribute your unique skill sets to supplement and strengthen our growth and evolution.

Nominations are due by September 8th. You may nominate yourself or others. All 'others' nominated will be contacted directly about their potential interest before being thrown into the election pool.

Elections will be held at our regular zoom meeting in October, date TBD. Each candidate will be invited to pop in for a quick hello and mini 'interview,' giving you a chance to ask any questions of us as well.  (The interview is not mandatory to apply, so if you're not available please don't let that dissuade you.)
