AUDITIONS at the EDGE

​Our audition process is designed to be welcoming, transparent, and respectful of the artist.These auditions are an exciting step in building a collaborative, artist-driven theatre community rooted in Fort Washington.

"A Broadway Villains Cabaret!"

Who’s your Broadway villain alter ego? Would you bring a antagonistic musical solo, or a chilling, theatrical monologue? We're calling performers of all experience levels to step into the spotlight for our upcoming Broadway Villains Cabaret. If you’ve been looking for a fun, low-pressure way to perform, reconnect with theater, or try something new in a welcoming, community-centered space, this is your sign. 

Audition Date: TUESDAY March 17th, 5-9pm

Location: Fort Washington Forest Community Center

What to Prepare:

Please prepare a selection that best showcases your favorite Broadway Villain.  This does not have to be a TRADITIONAL villain, nor are you limited to your traditional voice types or stereotypical casting. 

​

Option 1: One villainous musical theatre ballad, solo, duo, or ensemble number (apply with friends!)

Option 2: One villainous monologue from a play or theatrical production.

​​

This production will be an intimate cabaret setting with live music, focused on individual storytelling, bold character choices, clarity of text and musical expression. Minimal movement and staging will be used. 

 

Time:

​5-7 minutes total. Please come prepared to start promptly at your assigned time.

​

Accompaniment for Audition:

No live accompanist will be provided for the auditions- All audition accompaniment must be digital, streaming., or acapella   

***The performance on 30MAY WILL utilize live musicians***

Additional Notes:

Capital Edge Theater is committed to a welcoming, inclusive, and human-centered audition experience. 

Performers of all experience levels are encouraged to audition.

Headshots and résumés are welcome but not required.

THURS May 28th @ 6-9pm

FRI May 29th @ 7-10pm

SAT May 30th @ 10am-1pm (DRESS REHEARSAL)

SAT May 30th @ 7-10pm (PERFORMANCE)

 

Additional rehearsal opportunities will be provided, but these are the primary required dates for those selected to perform.
